Jan, with his wife Pat, has lived full-time in Tucson since 2004, returning to the US after a 4-year assignment in London as President of GE Asset Management in Europe. His career has been in international Banking and Financial markets. Having been educated in England, he started his career in London, relocating to New York and San Francisco.

Throughout his life, Jan has volunteered in support of generally education-related initiatives both in the UK and US. In addition, he has long held the view that Habitat for Humanity has developed effective models to help address affordable housing, and has volunteered for and supported their mission. He has also had a long-term involvement with the University of Arizona at the advisory board level, as well as coaching and teaching particularly through his more than decade long association with the Eller School of Business.

His professional expertise includes business and financial evaluation, risk assessment developing new businesses, market and strategic planning, and launching or repositioning products and businesses.

Jan and Pat are long term subscribers to the TSO, attending concerts since the early 2000s.
