Jim Schwab

Trustee

Jim Schwab’s professional career began in 1968 with a law firm in Cincinnati. Since that time, he has had a variety of leadership positions serving as a CEO, a senior financial executive, and a market president for three different types of for-profit organizations: manufacturing, financial services and commercial banking, respectively. Most recently, he served as the CEO of a non-profit, community-based foundation (assets of $200 million).

Jim has been active as community volunteer since the early 1970s starting with The United Way. Over the years, he served as a Board chair for four different types of non-profit organizations: an independent pre-K–12 school, a large community health system, a multi-site retirement community and the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops and related entities. Jim had the privilege of leading two community-wide fund-raising campaigns: The United Way campaign (together with his wife) in 2004 and the ArtsWave campaign in 2006.

Jim believes that he is an effective strategic thinker, planner and implementer. He also believes that he had success as a developer of leaders. At Interact for Health, he led a re-branding initiative that included the re-energizing of the organizational culture.

More specifically, Jim had extensive experience making presentations, analyzing financial statements, managing board governance issues and building relationships with customers and partners.

Jim and his wife relocated to the west in November 2016, to be closer to their daughter in Seattle and their son in San Francisco and their families. They became residents of Arizona in March 2022.
