Michael Bylsma

Trustee

Michael Bylsma grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and now lives in Tucson and in Washington, D.C., where he attended college and law school and spent his professional career working as a lawyer for the federal government. As an attorney, Mike specialized in banking, finance, and consumer protection regulation in senior-level and division director positions at the Federal Reserve Board and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. He is a member of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers and has authored several articles on banking law issues.

Since retirement, Mike has been active as a Trustee in nonprofit arts organizations in Tucson. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, and previously served as Vice-Chair of the Board and Co-Chair of the Committee on Trusteeship. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Tucson Museum of Art, where he previously served as President and Vice-President of the Board and currently serves as Chair of the Governance Committee and member of the Executive Committee.

He and his partner Mark are enthusiastic supporters of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra because of its significance to the Tucson community—and because the TSO’s musicians, Music Director, and staff embody the standards of quality and dedication that are the best in orchestras.
