TSO Education Programs
The TSO has one of the most extensive, nationally recognized, and award-winning music education programs in the US. We are proud to provide the most in-depth music education programs in all of Arizona—programs that earned one of only five NEA grants given in arts education in the state. Other honors include the Govenor’s Arts Award, the first American Symphony Orchestra League Bank of America Award for Excellence in Orchestra Education, and a 2014 Tucson Pima Arts Council “Lumie” Award. Our award-winning education programs reach more than 35,000 preschool through college students and teachers across Southern Arizona each year!
The TSO’s Education Programs include Music in the Schools, Young People’s Concerts, KinderKonzerts!, ensemble visits for preschool through second grade, Just For Kids concerts, a master class series, band and orchestra clinics, the Young Composers Project, and the Young Artists Competition. For information about any of these programs please visit www.tucsonsymphony.org
THE TSO & TAX CREDIT
Tax credit dollars raised through the TSO tax credit initiative go directly to public schools choosing to participate in TSO education programs, including the Young People’s Concerts held at the TCC Music Hall in May.
To ensure 13,200 students in grades three through eight attend one of six Young People’s Concerts in May 2017. Help us fill the seats at all six concerts!
WHAT IS TAX CREDIT?
- Tax credit is a dollar for dollar reduction on the taxes you owe the state of Arizona.
- Tax credit is a way for you, not the state, to decide how your tax dollars will be spent.
When you take advantage of the Arizona Public School Tax Credit program:
YOU WIN: Arizona allows state taxpaying individuals to subtract the tax credit amount from the total amount owed on their state income taxes. For many Arizona tax payers, participation ends up costing nothing.
CHILDREN WIN: Tax credit money gives schools the funds to participate in the TSO’s education programs!
THE TSO WINS: Tax credit money helps the TSO cover the costs of its award-winning education programs!
HOW MUCH CAN I CONTRIBUTE?
The maximum amount you can contribute to the Public School Tax Credit is:
$400 - married, filing jointly
$200 - married, filing separately
$200 - single/unmarried head of household
You may give to more than one school, as long as the total does not exceed the maximum allowed.
Contributing to the Public School Tax Credit program is separate from and does not affect maximum contributions to the Working Poor or Private School Tuition Tax Credit programs.
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE:
CHOOSE a school from the list on the upper right. (An up-to-the-minute list is available by calling 520-620-9167.)
MAKE your check payable TO THE SCHOOL you’ve chosen.
WRITE “TSO Education Programs” on the memo line.
MAIL your check & tax credit form to the TSO no later than December 31st. This will ensure that each school will have the funds they need to attend spring concerts.
The TSO tracks the amount each school receives and delivers all checks to the schools. The school will send you a receipt.
When you file your taxes, fill out AZ Form 322 & deduct the amount directly from your owed taxes.
