James Feddeck, conductor

Beethoven: Coriolan Overture
Beethoven: Symphony No. 1
Beethoven: Symphony No. 3

What did Ludwig van Beethoven sound like as a thirty something? Listen as he moves from the shadow of Mozart and Haydn in his first symphony at 30 to becoming the master of the art form in his third symphony at age 34, leading the way for Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Berlioz, Liszt, Brahms and the symphonic outpouring of the rest of the 19th century. At 37, the Coriolan Overture is a prime example of his “heroic” middle period style.

Complimentary “Concert Comments” with the conductor and guest artist take place one hour before the performance and give you insight into what you’re about to hear.
