The Shell ![]() Besides serving as a nice background for the orchestra to perform in front of, the shell also makes us sound better. Its walls and ceiling reflect the sound out to the audience. Just think how a seashell makes the sound of waves when you hold it up to your ear. |

The two huge panels that make up the ceiling of the shell are raised into place. They have lights built right in.

Here's one of the sections that make the walls. They're nearly 35 feet tall and unfold when they're in place. They roll on wheels, and the orange T-haped thing is used to steer it!
