TSO Musicians Concertmaster The Concertmaster leads the tuning of the orchestra. He or she plays all of the violin solos except when there is a concerto with guest artist. The Concertmaster is also responsible for deciding bowings, so all the bows move in the same direction. Assistant Concertmaster The Assistant Concertmaster takes over for the Concertmaster when he or she is absent. Associate Concertmaster The Associate Concertmaster takes over for the Concertmaster and the Assistant Concertmaster are absent. Principal players The principal players are the leaders of their sections. The principal usually plays the solos for their instrument. The principal strings also are responsible for the bowings in their section. Assistant Principal players The Assistant principal players take over for the Principal player. The musicians with an asterisk (*) next to their names are taking a break from the orchestra for the season. |
